I have been trying for 7 years to get into geared to income housing. I found out I was being discriminated against to Affordable Housing Society I was living in. I was in a market unit. I got a call from another set of townhouses but the landlord there would not return my call. When I called the fourth time I Left a message telling them I had been talking to a Housing Advocate. I got a call back very quickly only to be told the lady wasn't moving out.
There was a unit available in the townhouse complex I was living in. I was told they don't move families from one unit to another. I know of it happening three times since I Lived there.
The manager is the same manager from both places. She told me she wouldn't give my geared to income unit because I have two older children and what if they lose their job and come home and live with mom. That would not be allowed.
April 22 I fell and broke the fifth metatarsal in my left foot. The landlord never did her job. There was so much mold moss and other stuff build up on the step outside. I was taking small branches off my deck and bringing them to the forest behind my house. I slipped down about three steps and landed directly on my foot. My foot still throbs when I'm busy and on my feet. I told my landlord and she said "that's life". I would constantly take my garden hose and put it on jet to try keep the stuff off my deck and steps. My neighbours deck was completely black. The Landlord was suppose to put work orders in to keep the place power washed. She hardly did anything except complain if the kids were in the roadway playing. There was a tiny playground for preschools but nothing else.
All I want to do is get these people to realize they can not treat people the way they have and perhaps get them to power wash so someone doesn't get seriously injured. Do you threshold talk to a lawyer?
I got into a BC Housing Geared to Income place and after my debts are paid I hope I can start saving enough money to actually go on a vacation, replace some of my really old barely working items. this place is nice. I have a very small fenced in back yard. The best thing is it is only a three minute walk to my daughters school.
